iPhone to Android

Your new Android phone does the work. A cable is the easiest way.

New Android phones have copying built in. On most phones it is called Android Switch. On a Samsung Galaxy it is called Smart Switch. HONOR, OPPO, OnePlus and Xiaomi also have their own apps: see their guides below.

Before you start

Step by step

  1. Turn on your new Android phone and connect to Wi-Fi.
  2. When asked to copy apps and data, choose iPhone or iPad. (On a Samsung, choose to bring data from your old iPhone.)
  3. Sign in to your Google Account, or create one when asked.
  4. When asked, connect the two phones with the cable. Some newer phones show a square barcode (a QR code) instead: point your iPhone's camera at it.
  5. On the iPhone, tap Trust and type your iPhone passcode if asked.
  6. On the new phone, tick what you want to copy and tap Copy (or Transfer on a Samsung).
  7. Wait until it says it has finished, then unplug the cable.
  8. Important: on the iPhone, turn off iMessage so you don't miss text messages: Settings › Apps › Messages and switch iMessage off. On older iPhones it is Settings › Messages.
