OnePlus phones come with a free app called Clone Phone (it used to be called OnePlus Switch). It copies contacts, messages, call history, apps, photos and videos to your new OnePlus.
Before you start
- Your old phone needs Clone Phone too. On an Android phone, download it from the Google Play Store, or follow the steps on your new OnePlus. An old OnePlus or OPPO already has it.
- Charge both phones, or keep them plugged in the whole time.
- Be on your home Wi-Fi. Have your Wi-Fi password ready (it is often on the back of your router).
- Know your passwords: the code that unlocks your old phone, and your Apple Account or Google Account password.
- Keep your old phone. Don't reset it or hand it in until you have checked everything is on the new one.
- Give yourself time. Allow about an hour. Moving lots of photos can take longer.
From another Android phone or an older OnePlus
- On the new OnePlus, open Clone Phone. If you can't find it, type Clone Phone into the search at the top of Settings.
- Tap This is the new device, then choose what your old phone is.
- Follow the steps on screen to install Clone Phone on the old phone. Then, on the new phone, tap Already installed.
- On the old phone, open Clone Phone and tap This is the old device. Use it to scan the square barcode (QR code) on the new OnePlus.
- Tick what you want to copy, then tap Migrate.
- Keep both phones close together and plugged in until it says it has finished.
From an iPhone
- On the iPhone, it helps to turn on Contacts and Photos in iCloud first: Settings › your name › iCloud.
- On the new OnePlus, open Clone Phone, tap This is the new device, then tap Import data from an iPhone.
- A square barcode (QR code) appears. Scan it with the iPhone's camera to download Clone Phone onto the iPhone.
- On the iPhone, open Clone Phone, tap This is the old phone and scan the QR code again. Tap Join to connect.
- Tick what you want to copy, then tap Migrate. Wait until it finishes, then tap Done.
- On older OnePlus phones, Clone Phone asks you to sign in to iCloud instead, then guides you through the rest.
When it has finished
- Check your contacts, photos and messages on the new OnePlus.
- Coming from an iPhone? Turn off iMessage on the iPhone so you don't miss text messages: Settings › Apps › Messages (older iPhones: Settings › Messages) and switch iMessage off. See our iPhone to Android guide.
- WhatsApp chats need their own step. See our WhatsApp guide.
- Clone Phone can't move things from a OnePlus to an iPhone. For that, see our Android to iPhone guide.
